ABOUT ME

Jasmine Gonzalez, MS, NCC, LPC Intern
Supervised by Marci Stiles, MA, LPC-S

Hi, I'm Jasmine... but most people call me Jas.

I meet with my clients in private practice at Positive Outlook Counseling located in Dallas, Texas. I hold a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and I am currently pursuing my doctoral studies. I am also bilingual in Spanish and a Veteran of the United States Army. It was actually during my military service that ultimately inspired me to join this field and gain a vast appreciation for offering a holistic, integrative approach to client-centered therapy.

I have been in the counseling field since 2011. Spanning from my early days in the Army working to help facilitate the Army’s mission to provide counseling to Soldiers and their families struggling with the effects of trauma, marital issues, sexual assault, substance abuse, and suicide to becoming a mentor with the Brides out of Poverty program. Interacting and communicating with people from diverse backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses helped me to understand the lens of social, cultural, and political issues that affect mental health across the lifespan. As I continued to complete my education and clinical practice requirements, I gained a unique base of experience counseling children, adolescents, and adults in a multitude of different situations and settings.

My therapeutic approach is integrative which is a vigorous evidenced-based approach that combines different therapeutic tools to best fit each client as an individual. Everyone experiences life differently and so I believe there is no "one-size-fits-all" approach to counseling. My approach aims to consider the unique needs of my clients so that we can collaborate together to decide the best approach for your therapeutic experience. I am also certified in Trauma-Informed and Mindfuleness-Based perspectives as alternative and evidenced based clinical interventions that can be utilized to help regulate physical and emotional responses to unmanaged stress.

On a personal note, I really have a heart for working with the many diverse characteristics that my clients bring. I personally identify as a multicultural woman. I am passionate about working with those who don’t always fit into the “right” categories. I have personal and professional experience in working with individuals from various cultural backgrounds, sexual orientations, as well as military service members and Veterans. These experiences have allowed me to gain a deep understanding and profound empathy for the human experience and a great respect for the multitude of difficulties that people are facing.
